The Midland High girls basketball team got its first District 2-6A win of the season with a road win at Abilene High on Tuesday night. MHS (5-16, 1-4) had a 21-15 halftime lead and a 33-31 advantage after three quarters before the Lady Dawgs went on a 17-5 run in the final quarter to secure the victory.
The Legacy and Greenwood girls basketball teams have played in some intense defensive battles when they’ve met on the hardwood in recent years. They continued that tradition on Wednesday when the Rangerettes and Lady Rebels played admirable defense in a Byron Johnson Holiday Classic game where easy buckets were hard to come by.
The Greenwood boys basketball team rolled to a non-district victory over Levelland at School on Tuesday. Greenwood (2-2) took a 31-26 halftime lead and then had a big first half to pull away. Colton Calvicoatte led the Rangers with a game-high 16 points,
